Dealing With Psychopath In Organization

5      Jangan meminjamkan apa pun kepadanya.
7   Jangan perlihatkan kelemahan Anda.

War Of The Smartphones

"The world was simpler when Apple & Blackberry just mere fruit and Android only appears on Terminator movie"

Ten years ago we would'nt expect how a single device that fits our palm could connect to Internet, streaming videos from youtube, act like a GPS, send and read e-mail and even edit and view office documents. Yes, we had live in an era when "Dumb Phone" dominates our live.

Slowly but sure, the golden era of these Dumb Phone began to fade away. The Smartphones take over the throne by offering more advanced computing ability and connectivity than a contemporary basic Dumb phone.

Currently, there are 3 major strains of Smartphone in the market: Blackberry OS, Android & iOS based device (Meebos were sucks and Palm Web Os penetration on the market still low). Since i'm an avid user of Android device, a newbie user of Blackberry Handset and adorer of iOS based device, it will become a great sin if i don't write a brainwaste which dedicated to these wonderful beasts.

Photobucket

By appointment of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth III, i declare this smartphones war! (note: Android "naked" interface was called "Vanilla")

Blackberry

Photobucket

In 2002, a Canadian based company (which is typicaly satire, just like their humour) RIM released the first BlackBerry which was the first smartphone optimized for wireless email use and had achieved a total customer base of 32 million subscribers by December 2009 (and Indonesian were their biggest victim! Yaay!). BlackBerry is primarily known for its ability to send and receive (push) Internet e-mail wherever mobile network service coverage is present, or through Wi-Fi connectivity. BlackBerry has the ability to use wireless data efficiently while using less power than other phones, three BlackBerrys use the same wireless spectrum as only one other smartphone!

Though it has amazing connectivity feature, Blackberry devices are lacking one important thing: A pleasant User Interface (UI). Blackberry UI is so straightforward, no transition effect, has poorly designed UI, and most important thing: no fun at all! That makes Blackberry suitable for bunch of people who doesn't have "fun" word on their dictionary in example: businessman, senior citizens & dinosaurs.

Android

Photobucket

Android is a mobile operating system initially developed by Android Inc but was bought by Google in 2005 (That makes Android has the strongest financial backup for development among other smartphones. Unit sales for Android OS smartphones ranked first among all smartphone OS handsets sold in the U.S. in the second and third quarters of 2010. with a third quarter market share of 43.6%.

Android is based upon a modified version of the Linux kernel. A linux kernel? Yes! That makes Android more PC-like OS than other competitor, not forgot to mention, theoretically due to its "open " nature, Android could also installed from refrigerator, DVD player, game console and even PC itself! Amazing isn't it? Not really for me, due to it's flexibility, Android OS never optimized for one device (like Apple & RIM did for their smartphone), it's unstable, sometimes it's laggy, even on high end device, in the end it feels like we're using an prototype, experimental device that only will be matured in 5 years for now. If you're an early adopter type fellow, or someone who likes to experimenting with their mobile devices (a geek *cough*) , Android surely will easily became a 'Deus-Ex-Machina', but for someone else whom adore stability and speed, Android is a no no.

iPhone

Photobucket

The iPhone is a line of Internet and multimedia-enabled smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. The first iPhone was introduced on January 9, 2007. The user interface is built around the device's multi-touch screen, it works smoothly, response fluidly & beautifuly, has top of the line user experience and through Apple Inc superior marketing program, it was perceived "cool" by every age and gender. Supossedly, iPhone is the most ideal smartphone today on the market, but for me iPhone lacks something important: freedom!

iOS is a closed system which means, to interact with the system, software must contact several internal API without any right to contact the kernel directly. Apple prevents the developers to mess up with the iOS core itself . If this statement confuses you, then let me explain it in more blatant way; iPhone is lack of customization and personalization feature, your personal preference does not matter for Steve Jobs, once you bought iPhone, your identity will instantly be associated with Apple, you'll became another Apple fans whom doesn't have personal identity, they just let themself became Steve Jobs slave, and loosing their control & freedom *thats explain why iOS crack called jailbreak*!

A proud Iphone user surely conceive themself as cool & trendy dude, but IMHO they had loose their freedom and instead being controlled by Apple.

Blackberry vs Android vs iPhone User

Our Brainwaste today concluded with a astonishing illustration from our friendly neighbourhood @csectionscomic

Photobucket

Despite the differences, there is one thing that iPhone and Android users can both agree on: that RIM users are dinosaurs. Now, if Blackberry are dinosaurs, then Nokia must be fossils or dollar menu toys?

My brain is hot and my finger has been twisted, now please let me know which kind of smartphone user you are?

Back From The Grave

Heya Brainwasters, you may think that i had a cryogenic sleep or got bitten by a zombie because it's been a while since my last post here (gosh, its been a year!).

Due to my current activity on contemplating world domination, i found that it's hard to spare some time on brainwasting * Notes: Naaah, this is a complete lie, i'm just too lazy to write*. In order to prevent the same mistake happens i again, thereby i declare that one of my 2011 resolutions was: "write at least 1 brainwaste a month or 12 brainwastes a year". So, let us revive and refresh the

journey to the pointless tought!!!

Intimate Relationship: Maslow Style

Since thousand years ago, Human relationship has always become interesting brainwasting topics. People always interested on why and how interpersonal relationship (in general) or intimate relationship (in specific manner) could develop between couples.

Master Brainwaster Aristole

Over 2300 years ago, interpersonal relationship were being contemplated by Master Brainwaster - Aristotle, he believed that by nature humans are social beings and suggested that there were three different types of relationships.

1. Uttility based relationship

On utility based relationship, people are attracted to relationships that provide utility because of the assistance and sense of belonging that they provide

2. Pleasure based relationship

In relationships based on pleasure, people are attracted to the feelings of pleasantness and that they are engaging.

3. Relationship based on virtue

On Relationships based on virtue, people we're are attracted to others' virtuous character.

Although Aristotle put forth much consideration about relationships, as like many other ancient philosophers, did not use systematic methods and therefore could not conclude that his thoughts and ideas were correct.

Following the Brainwaster Master path, I would like to try re-explaining this phenomena, but this time I would want to take it to a more advanced & sophisticated way: brainwaste that were backed up with a scientific literature (ok, I know it's still lame because it hasn't tested yet, but at least I'm one step further than Aristotle right).

Intimate Relationships: Hierarcycal Style

Most people believe that a relationship between two couple could only happen because of L.O.V.E. However, based on my observation, I believe that interpersonal relationship between two couple could happen, driven and predetermined by several motive of needs (which this need could be affected by age and socio-cultural environment) which is similar to Abraham Maslows Hierarcy of Needs.

Hierarchy of needs is a theory in psychology which proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 on a paper entitled "A Theory of Human Motivation". Maslow's hierarchy of needs is predetermined in order of importance. It is often represented as a pyramid consisting of five levels: the lowest level is associated with physiological needs, while the uppermost level is associated with self-actualization needs, particularly those related to identity and purpose.

Maslow Hierarcy Of Needs

While Maslow's theory was regarded as an improvement over previous theories of personality and motivation, some experts such philosopher Manfred Max Neef has argued fundamental human needs are non-hierarchical, and are ontologically universal and invariant in nature. But I won't mind that…since this is actually a brainwaste, we could just assume that human needs are hierarchical and variant :P.

Let's haste to the main topic of this article. As I mentioned before; I believe that interpersonal relationship between two couple could happen, driven and predetermined by several motive of needs (which this need could be affected by age and socio-cultural environment). Those type of relationships are:

Pickup Line For Every Type Of Relationship

  1. Physiological based relationship

On physiological based relationship, people were attracted between each other merely because of their physical criteria.

One of the basic purposes of human life is for reproduction. In order to produce finest-quality successor, our brain has embedded by the blueprint of ideal mate which has several physiological criteria (which referred by our culture today with the word "Sexy", "Cute", "Handsome", "Beautiful","Athletic","Witty","Smart" Etc) which could outstand individual s inferior gene (Guys with horrible face but has splendid personality usually seeks for a beautiful woman which has no personality at all) or enhancing individuals superior gene (people with intelligence usually seek for another smart people). Every individual has their own criteria of ideal mate.

Once a person meet with other individual which could meet their ideal physiological criteria, his/her reptile instinct began to work and would do stupid things in order to establish a relationship which led to *something which I couldn't describe here in detail :P*.

I found this relationship mainly happen on teenagers (or ABeGe). They usually choose their girl/boy friend merely because of his/her physiological criteria. Girls ussualy attracted to handsome and athletic guy, or a smart & witty one while Boys ussualy attracted to a beautiful girl or a cute & gorgeous one. It's pretty rare for me to met a teenager couple whom already think about their financial safety on the future, or seeks respect from their couple.

  2. Safety based relationship

On safety based relationship, people attracted to an individual which could provide them the safety that they need. Safety here could be meant a lot of things, from physical safety, employment, resources, health, and property to the safety of wealth.

This type of relationship may not popular in our society (people would mock the individual which establish this kind of relationship as "materialist"), but it seems to be a realistic solution in order to survive on tough society nowadays (in easy way). I found this kind of relationship usually aroused on young adult whom began to learn the harness of life.

  3. Love/Belonging based relationship

The warmth of family, intimacy between two lover and friendship between individual is the main motive on love/belonging based relationship. Maybe this is the ideal relationship that always exploited on TV & cinema.

  4. Self Esteem based relationship

On self esteem based relationship, Nietzhe "der wille zur march" takes the major role. The main motive of this kind of relationship is power, status or achievement which could led to respect or confidence which was gained from the another person. Supermodel relationships with powerful Beaurocrats would be a common example for this.

  5. Self Actualization based relationship

Would you, in the name of charity or God, marry a poor old widow or; a person with disabilities which makes no one would want to marry and take care of him/her. Everyone would say: Heck! No Way!!!!! Marital is something sacred, something that must be done in the name of love, not charity!

I believe self actualization based relationship is the most uncommon thing to do in our modern society ( From time to time, I only know one person whom would bear this kind of relationship).

On self actualization based relationship, one would act based on morality and creativity in order to actualize his/her self of being useful for his/her community.

My brain is hot and my finger has been twisted, now please let me know which kind of relationship do you really seek?

QTYMNA (Question That You May Never Ask: A Deprivation of F.A.Q )

Q: What's the point of this what-you-so-called QTYMNA SECTION?

A: Well, I have to tell you about the difficulty that I faced during the creation of this Blog. Actually this Blog project has been started since 2006. I have prepared tons of brainwaste, which could be used as article on this blog, but I still could not find a perfect opening which I expect could explain what this BLog would be. So after spending 3 years (of brainwasting) to decide on what opening article would fit on this BLog , I finally decided: why don't we make a FAQ like something which could elucidate things like I want.

Q: Ok, so why don't you tell me what this weblog all about

A: Actually, when I mention about BLog, It does not refer to "WeBlog" , it was referring to "Brainwaste LOG"

Q: Brainwaste? what kind of creature is that?

A: Okay, firstly lets take a look about the definition of each noun at http://www.thefreedictionary.com

1.Brain:

a. Intellectual ability; mind: a dull brain; a quick brain.

b. Intellectual power; intelligence. Often used in the plural: has brains and good looks. See Synonyms at mind.

2. Waste:

a. An unusable or unwanted substance or material, such as a waste product.

b. Something, such as steam, that escapes without being used.

Based on those definitions above , we could conclude brainwaste as intellectual power that escapes without being used

And now, let us to take a comparison on this noun:

3. Brainstorming - a group problem-solving technique in which members spontaneously share ideas and solutions; "we had an intense brainstorming session today"

Inspired by the definition of brainstorming, I would like to extend brainwasting definition as: an activity in which a person/group uses their intellectual power for something pointless/useless.

Q: I still don't get it….could you gave me an example

A: The process of defining "brainwaste" before is a perfect example. There is no point on defining it doesn't it?

Q: Errrr……if its pointless, why do you suggest people to do brainwasting?

A: Any other brain activity such as thinking and brainstorming could lead us to solution /knowledge/something within the context boundaries (which could be in form of problems or previous thought) , while brainwasting would lead us to something beyond any contextual boundaries.

Q: So whats the point of it?

A: Like I said before, there is no point of brainwasting.

Q: So you just waste your intellectual power and especially your TIME…..?

A: Actually, yes…..just like what Shakesphere and Einstein do.

Q: They do brainwasting?

A: Yes, they do:

Shakesphere has created more than 1500 words, which we use daily in our life today, such as: forward, gossip, manager, bandit, bedroom, etc; for a complete lists, you could buy this book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shakespeares-Words-Glossary-Language-Companion/dp/0140291172). Whats the point of creating new words?

Einstein's idea about space-time continuum considered as the most creative attempt that ever done by human, but similar to Heinsberg's Quantum Theory, Einstein's space-time continuum model could not be considered as product of Re-Search, its an invention, the theory just popped out from middle of nowhere without any support from previous research (okay, I was exaggerate it, but Physicist, you know what I mean, right). Einstein just let his mind run wild beyond any boundaries (most of the physicist works at 3d plane during that era, but Einstein has already jump beyond that boundaries) during the formulation of this theory. Skeptical scientist would think what Einstein did as a total joke (mass as the effect of space-time continuum bending, wtf?), I would think what Einstein did was a brilliant brainwasting.

Brainwaste may seem useless at one moment, but who knows what happen in the future.

Q: If Shakesphere deals with literature and Einstein plays with physics, what field do you prefer for your brainwaste?

A: To be honest, I have broad field of interests, but never became an expert of it. For anyone who expected details on every brainwaste, forgive me if I disappoint you.

Some of my major interests are: Horology , Coffee, Culinary ,Travelling, Art, Animation, Marketing, Modern Science, Books & Mangas, Programming, Religion, Movies, Health, Photography, Digital Meme's, Politics, Economics, Marketing, Humanity And Life.

Q: So that means that this Blog would not have any specific topic?

A: Correct, i will write anything that crosses into my mind.

Q: You're Indonesian, why'd you wrote in English (which still has lots of grammatical problem) instead of Bahasa

A: Sometimes I find it easier to express my thought in other language such as English. But it's not a necessity for me to wrote in English, maybe you could expect me to write in any other language in the future, depends on the condition.

Q: Okay..i'm still confused and clueless, but good luck with your Brainwasting

A: Thank you, welcome to the journey of the pointless thought.
